STEM Centers of Academic Excellence™ THF’s STEM Centers of Academic Excellence™ (STEM-CAE) are educational institutions that host THF programs. The mission of STEM-CAE is to identify and/or assist colleges, universities, schools, informal science institutions, youth-based organizations and faith-based institutions with programs designed to enhance the academic success of youth in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) through STEM-based activities, experiences and events conducted in a variety of locations.The Centers will offer project-based inquiry learning experiences designed to engage learners in the knowledge, understanding and application of STEM concepts and principles. Programs include: • Residential Summer Academies • Non-residential Summer Academies • Leadership Academies • After School Programs • Academic Challenges • Virtual Science Camps STEM-CAE programs will provide students the opportunity to: • Enhance their proficiency in mathematics • Enhance their proficiency in science • Engage in STEM-based activities designed to increase students’ academic success
Students will also: • Be exposed to role models and Introduced to careers in STEM • Learn college and career readiness information • Investigate real world issues through field trips and field excursions Emphasis will be placed on: • Project-based, hands-on, inquiry-based activities • Communication, critical thinking and problem solving • Creativity, innovation, and collaboration
THF programs will provide opportunities for students to: • Learn valuable life skills • Make new friends • Discover new interests
